Lot 120

International Watch Co., Schaffhausen "Ingenieur SL", Ref. 5215, Cal. 9520, 49 mm, 89 g, circa 1986
A gentleman's rare Schaffhausen pocket watch
Case: steel, polished. Dial: grey, structured, applied indexes, auxiliary seconds, gold baton hands. Movm.: bridge movement, gilt, "fausses côtes" decoration, Glucydur screw balance, incabloc shock protection for balance.
Ingenieur SL Reference 5215
Reference 5215 is part of the "Ingenieur" series and to the best of our knowledge only 200 copies of it were ever made. The model was produced with four different dials - what we have here is known by the collectors as the "Millimeterpapier" or "graph paper".
Not only is this the first anti-magnetic (40,000 A/m) and water-resistant (30 meters) pocket watch ever, it is also the only one to this date.
Together with the fact that the watch was produced in a very small series from 1983 to 1996 this makes reference 5215 a much-coveted collectors' item.
