Omega "Chronometre", Movement No. 3809253, Case No. 6386713, 145 x 130 x 55 mm, circa 1911
A rare showcase deck chronometer Caliber "DDR" with original wooden box. Only 180 examples of this small series have been produced.
Case: nickel, polished, reeded, screwed back. Dial: silvered, Arabic numerals, auxiliary seconds, blued Breguet hands. Movm.: 1/2 plate movement, frosted, gilt, 23 jewels, screwed gold chatons, Guillaume gold screw compensation balance, cam type fine adjusting device.
Marco Richon explains about this type of movement in his book "OMEGA, die Geschichte einer großen Marke" (OMEGA, the story of a great brand) in 1993: "This extremely precise chronometer with its excellent finish embodies the very finest level of quality that has ever been achived in a factory at the turn of the century...". The abbreviation "DDR" stands for the highest level of quality OMEGA produces.
