Case: 18k rose gold, glazed on both sides. Dial: rotating glass discs. Movm.: crescent-shaped movement, cylinder escapement, ring balance.
Armand Schwob & Frère, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, watch manufacturers. Holders of two Swiss Patents, 2445 and 2526, in 1881, and English Patent No 9865 granted in July 1888: Transparent Watches.
Examples are usually found in silver cases and occasionally in silver-gilt. Only a few watches of this type were produced in gold. It is also unusual bearing a name that may be for its Spanish market retailer or, perhaps, that of its original owner - the enamelling is beautifully done.
