Peter Krenckel, Euchst, 88 x 78 x 70 mm, circa 1710
A small south German hexagonal quarter hour repeating horizontal table clock
Case: firegilt brass case, florally engraved, the sides with screwed on silver windows, the six corners decorated with stylized caryatids, four toupie feet, rear bell. Dial: brass. Movm.: hexagonal brass movement, chain/fusee, engraved barrel, 2 hammers, the heads formed and engraved with fish, verge escapement, three-arm iron ring balance.
According to Jürgen Abeler, watchmaker Peter Krenckel was born in 1687 in Hattnau. He worked as assistant to Wilhelm Köberle in Eichstätt and married Köberle’s daughter in 1714. Krenckel died in 1730.
