French, 90 mm, 419 g, circa 1800
A technically interesting coach watch with centre seconds, day and date indicator and cylinder escapement with rare pirouette
Case: silver. Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, chain/fusee.
The term pirouette comes from Huygens who was the first to use it. In a pirouette the balance makes several revolutions during a single impulse. This allows for a long duration period and consequently for dead-beat seconds.
