The Atmos V was first launched in 1955 and introduced as a marketing tool for major American companies – a gift to give away on anniversary occasions. This calibre represented a breakthrough for the brand on the American market.
The Atmos (for atmospheric clock) takes its energy from from the expansion and contraction of a capsule filled with ethyl chloride gas that responds to changes in temperature and barometric pressure. The produced energy winds the mainspring. According to the makers of the clock, a temperature difference of 1 Kelvin creates a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
