Case: nickel-plated. Dial: enamel. Movm.: nickel-plated, torsion pendulum.
This example of the early, highly coveted Atmos clocks is in excellent original condition. The PX2 is the smaller version of the Atmos models dating from the 1930s, which were also available as model PX1, which was a larger size.
The Atmos (for atmospheric clock) takes its energy from from the expansion and contraction of a capsule filled with ethyl chloride gas that responds to changes in temperature and barometric pressure. The produced energy winds the mainspring. According to the makers of the clock, a temperature difference of 1 Kelvin creates a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
