Lot 155

Audemars Piguet, Swiss, "Royal Oak Automatic", Movement No. 280143, Case No. B-97326 / No. 098, Ref. 14700 ST, Cal. 2125, 36 x 46 mm, circa 1990
An extremely rare automatic Geneva wristwatch in practically new condition, with date, so called "Transitional Mini Jumbo". In September 2018 the watch was given a general overhaul.
Case: steel, screwed on back, screwed crown, AP steel bracelet, bracelet length 160 mm, total length 205 mm. Dial: creamy colored, engine-turned "grand tapisserie".
The Royal Oak Automatic reference 14700 only had a short production run in the early 1990s. It was produced during a transitional period in 1990/91 before being replaced by the well-known reference 14790, which was in production for nearly 15 years. Because of the slimmer bezel and the larger dial, the Royal Oak reference 14700 appears bigger than it actually is, which gave it the name "Mini Jumbo".
This Royal Oak reference 14700 model in the highly sought-after steel case comes from the original owner and has a marvelous dial in an unusual, off-white colour, which has aquired a warm, creamy hue.
