A fine gold enamel pair-cased verge pocket watch Case: outer case - gold enamel, engraved edges, paste-set bezel, the reverse side engine-turned and translucent cobalt blue enamelled, in the centre a polychrome enamel medallion with a portrait of a courtly lady, applied paste-set border. Inner case - gold, polished. Dial: enamel, radial Roman numerals, paste-set pierced steel hands. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, keywind, chain/fusee, baluster pillars,three-arm brass balance, engraved and pierced silver balance bridge.
Esquivillon & De Choudens Geneva watchmaker Jacques Dechoudens (1728-1801) and brothers Joseph Esquivillon (1714-1798), Jean François Esquivillon (1733-1813) and Gédéon-François Esquivillon (1717-1799) founded a workshop which produced high quality verge pocket watches.
