"SC", Geneva, 84 x 51 x 21 mm

A very fine gold musical box playing two tunes

Case: 18k gold, case makers punch mark "SC" with a hammer inbetween, French gold guarantee mark 1809-1819, third standard gold mark Geneva 1809-1814.
Rectangular box, rounded corners, on all sides chased and engine-turned, hinged lid with a centred oval cartouche depicting a flower bouquet on a sablé ground within a band of flowers and foliage, gold disc on the back side for changing the tunes, to the right to activate the music, the base with winding aperture. Movm.: musical movement of excellent quality, rectangular form, brass, pinned cylinder, comb with 54 vibration blades.
Case: very good, , slightly scratched
