An important square cased Renaissance table clock with 24 hour dial and alarm Case: brass, firegilt, moulded baseboard, four baluster-shaped feet, allover richly engraved with staffage figures of ladies and gentlemen in period attire; base with engraved profile of a Roman military commander with plumed and decorated helmet, Roman axe and shield; two pierced sound holes. Dial: brass, firegilt, hour knobs, Arabic 24 hours, double radial Roman hours "1-12", engraved signs of the zodiac, central silver alarm disc with Arabic numerals and compass rose, single iron hand. Movm.: iron movement, punch mark "AW" and star, iron train, facetted iron movement pillars, verge escapement with iron balance and hog' bristle regulator, iron pierced balance cock, bell between the plates.
