Caillatre à Paris/Geneve, 62 x 62 mm, 297 g, circa 1690

An extremely rare, square and large one-handed verge pocket watch
Case: brass, gilt, square form, moulded case with plain sides. Dial: enamel, radial Roman numerals, florally engraved spandrels, blued steel single hand. Movm.: square brass full plate movement, keywind, signed, gilt, chain/fusee, baluster-shaped movement pillars, four-arm steel balance, fine florally engraved, pierced balance cock.

Even though this watch bears the signature "Caillatre à Paris", it was produced in Geneva by the Caillatre family and shipped to their Parisian shop. The Caillatres lived in Geneva and moved to Denmark around 1695.
