A very fine decorative gold enamel minute repeating hunting case pocket watch with centre seconds - for the Chinese market Case: 18k gold, polychrome enamel, a gallant scene on the front cover, the back lid with a portrait of a young lady, Champlevé enamelled decoration on the band, the borders set with half pearls, à goutte, engraved and numbered gold dome, case maker's punch mark of Maurice Ditisheim (angel with bell and hammer), slide for repeating mechanism, glazed movement. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, signed, Louis XV hands. Movm.: 1/2 plate movement, frosted, gilt, 30 jewels, 2 hammers, 2 gongs, screwed gold chatons, gold screw compensation balance, index spring fine adjusting device.
Maurice Ditisheim (1831-1899) Swiss watchmaker and entrepreneur. In 1858 Ditisheim opened a workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds that quickly grew into the manufactory "Maurice Ditisheim"; in 1894 the factory began producing watches under the brand name "Vulcain". Ditisheim was one of the first patrons of the MIH (Musée International d'Horlogerie), which was the the international watch museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
