Urbain Joseph Alexandre Adam (1815-1881)
Urbain Joseph Alexandre Adam (born in Kaysersberg and died in Colmar) was a clockmaker in Colmar. Between 1840 and 1880 Adam produced a great number of turret clocks, the majority of them for use in the southern part of the Alsace region. He was a great admirer of Jean-Baptiste Schwilgués and often took his inspiration from him. According to his own records Adam created over 500 clocks, but this list possibly also includes pendulum clocks.
