, Case No. 7283, 49 mm, 97 g, circa 1870An exceptionally decorative gold enamel hunting case pocket watch for the Chinese market - with corresponding watch chain
Case: 18k gold, the lids costly engine-turned and translucent cobalt blue enamelled, engraved flower heads and foliate scrolls set with half pearls and diamonds, very finely reeded band, florally engraved pendant and edges, engine-turned and signed gold dome, case maker's punch mark "BE". Ziffbl.: silver, engine-turned, applied, floral gold decoration, applied radial Roman gold numerals, auxiliary seconds at "9", blued Breguet hands. Movm.: bridge movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, side lever escapement, screw compensation balance.
Yersin à Fleurier was an important firm in the first half of the 19th century for making "Chinese Duplex watches".
