Johann George Weyer, Dantzig, 85 mm, 516 g

, circa 1770

An hour striking coach clock with hour repeater and alarm of museum quality

Case: silver, geometrical pattern with mother-of-pearl inlay, rear bell, florally engraved sound holes, chain for repetition, large outer hinge. Dial: enamel, radial Roman hours, central blued alarm hand, signed, pink gilt hands. Movm.: full plate movement, firegilt, signed, chain/fusee, pentagonal baluster movement pillars, 2 florally engraved barrels for striking- and alarm train, 2 hammers, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.

Johann George Weyer
Weyer was born in Danzig around 1727. He was apprenticed with Johann Heinrich Wiegendorff in 1749. Weyer died in 1805.
