A very fine gold enamel pendant watch with a matching gold enamel and diamond-set bow brooch with original silk-lined morocco case Case: 18k rose gold, the back cover with translucent red enamel over sunray engine-turning, gold cartouche with engraved monogram "AVD", the bezels on both sides with applied gold flowers and scrolls "à trois couleurs", signed and numbered gold dome with dedication engraving. Corresponding diamond-set brooch in the shape of a loop. Dial: enamel, Arabic numerals, oval gold paillon border, Louis XVI hands. Movm.: bridge movement, cal. LeCoultre, frosted, gilt, signed, "S.G.D.G.", cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance.
Gustave-Roger Sandoz took over his father’s jewellery shop in Paris in 1891. The jewellery he created was very much inspired by Art Nouveau; Sandoz also worked with Émile Gallé and produced elaborate mounts for some of Gallé’s glass objects. He sat on the jury during the International Exhibition in Paris in 1900 and also exhibited a number of his creations.
