A very fine hour repeating carriage clock with with half hour / hour self strike and Limoge panel produces for the English market

Case: brass, gilt, moulded, facet glazed on all sides and the top, waved handle with fluted middle part. Dial: Limoges enamel dial, spandrels with painted textured putti with wings and garlands, representing the four seasons; gilt chapter ring with radial Roman numerals, spade hands. During our 86th auction we sold a unique triple-cased convertible (‘cabriolet’) watch by Patek Philippe & Co., Geneva with three-dimentional enamel painting for the sum of 85,100 euros. The watch had most likely been produced for an exhibition and quality and execution of its high-relief enamel screnes are identical to that of this carriage clock.
In October 1889 M. Potocki wrote about the Paris Exposition of the same year and devoted a few paragraphs to Patek Philippe, who had won the Grand Prix. He paid special attention to "a marvel in enamel and gold, in three cases, the middle one, as well as the dial, in enamel showing putti playing in the clouds, in three-dimensions like repousse but in enamel".
Case: very good
Dial: very good
Movm.: very good, capable of running, cleaning recommended
