A gentleman's exceptionally elegant, rectangular, curved Geneva wristwatch with channelled sides, sold on September 7th, 1937 - with Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Case: 18k gold, push back, channelled sides, 18k Patek Philippe gold buckle. Dial: silvered, raised indexes/Arabic numerals. Movm.: rectangular movement, rhodium-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, gold screw compensation balance.
This yellow gold version of reference 514 is believed to be only the sixth example of the model that has ever come on the market. The reference was produced from 1934 until 1941 and has a remarkably modern yet very typically art deco style case designed to fit around the wrist. The stepped sides and the overall aerodynamic look gave the watch its nickname "Railway". It is one of Patek Philippe’s longest rectangular wristwatches ever – it has a total length of 44 mm.
