LeRoy & Fils, 114 et 115, Paris
, Case No. 191, 55 mm, 86 g, circa 1840A gentleman's impressive gold enamel pocket watch studded with half pearls
Case: gold enamel, case maker's punch mark "R". Dial: enamel. Movm.: bridge movement, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance.
This remarkable pocket watch was created by the famous maker LeRoy & Fils and dates back to the period just after the Napoleonic wars; judging from its condition, the watch must have been kept well out of harm’s way at all times. Its back is decorated with a finely painted enamel miniature on a background of engine-turned wave pattern and translucent cobalt blue enamelling, showing two girls, a boy and a dog playing at a lake. Around the rim is a row of half pearls.
