An extremely fine and rare gold enamel perfume flask with finest enamel painting "en grisaille" in the manner of by George Michael Moser and Augustin Toussaint
Case: gold enamel, oval base with monogram "JH", amphora shape. Walls with engine-turned pattern and cobalt blue enamelling, edge with engraved gold ornamentation. Both sides with horizontally oval enamel vignettes with neo-classical-style "en grisaille" scenes on brown ground, in white and gold Champlevé frames: Melpomene, the muse of tragedy and Calliope, the muse of epic poetry. Engraved screw cap, short chain.
