Zenith, Le Locle, "Automatic 28800 DEFY", Case No. PA.50.038-2, Ref. 863D807, Cal. 2562PC, 38 x 45 mm, circa 1968
A rare vintage automatic wristwatch with date in the eccentric style of the late 1960's
Case: steel, screw back, screwed winding crown. Dial: anthracite with gradient.
The DEFY is the embodiment of "bulky and solid ". Originally intended for the Italian market, the timepiece comes in a case made from a heavy block of stainless steel. It does not have a revolving bezel but was designed as a watertight timepiece like a diver’s watch.
The DEFY model was introduced at the same time as El Primero and is fitted with a "high frequency" automatic calibre 2562PC with 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement itself is suspended on a synthetic rubber ring that protects it from shocks delivered to the case.
