Sinclair Harding, "Makers of Fine Clocks" in Cheltenham, specialize in creating working replicas of famous clocks and reproducing their technology. They paid their homage to the groundbreaking inventions of legendary clockmaker John Harrison some time ago when they presented their range of "John Harrison Sea Clocks". Harrison’s most famous invention is the "grasshopper escapement" with its huge wheel, which is not only fascinating to watch but also a technical marvel: The pendulums are connected at the back side and allow an even running of the clock even on an irregular surface – which is a great advantage particularly at sea and eventually ensured that after a long struggle Harrison was finally recognized for his solution of the longitude problem. Supreme workmanship goes without saying at Cheltenham, gilt, silvered and blued with an elaborately openworked emblem and an unusual three-arm seconds indication which, according to Sinclair Harding, has only ever been used by A. L. Breguet before.
