Lot 266

Tudor, Genève, Swiss, "Prince-Oysterdate", Case No. 432833, Ref. 7966, Cal. 2462, 36 mm, circa 1964
A vintage automatic wristwatch with date in rare 18k gold version
Case: 18k gold, Rolex Oyster case, screw back with engraving "Original Oyster Case By Rolex Geneva", reeded gold bezel, screwed Rolex "Twinlock" winding crown, Rolex buckle. Dial: gilt.
For a long time the "Prince-Oysterdate" reference 7966 was a must-have in any collection of Tudor timepieces. The watch came in different versions and this model in a rare yellow gold case is in excellent condition. Even with some minor signs of age, the watch has lost none of its charisma: The marvelously brushed, pale gilt original dial features bar and arrowhead markers with luminous dots for easy reading of the time in the dark. The dauphine hands are also filled with luminous material, which has acquired a slight patina but complements the luminous dots perfectly.
