A. Lange & Söhne Glashütte B/Dresden, Movement No. 84493, Case No. 84493, 56 mm, 144 g, circa 1938
A heavy Glashuette hunting case pocket watch in mint condition - lever chronometer - manufactured in quality 1A - from the property of brewery director Johann Georg Wilhelm Meußdoerffer in Kulmbach
Case: 18k pink gold, monogrammed, glazed movement. Dial: enamel. Movm.: 3/4 plate movement, large gold screw compensation balance.
Beer aficionados take notice: The monogram "WM" refers to German brewery director Johann Georg Wilhelm Meußdoerffer (1887 - 1966), a decendant of the Meußdoerffer family, the owners of a malting company. He was the grandson of Johann Georg Meußdoerffer (1824 - 1878), who founded the "Kulmbacher" malting company in 1852.
The timepiece itself is one of the famous Glashütte lever chronometers fitted with the large, 19 mm balance and in perfect condition, which was actually the last manufactured piece to leave the Glashütter Lange & Söhne production.
