A magnificent gold enamel pocket watch with cylinder escapement, adorned with pearls and diamonds
Case: 18k gold, charge mark of Henri Clavel (1781-1783), Parisian guild punch mark "U" for the years 1783-1784. Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, chain/fusee, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance.
The body of this wonderful piece is framed by a row of lustrous pearls, which are so delicate that they are protected by an extra gilt case. The back is exquisitely ornamented with a cobalt blue enamel medallion on engine-turned ground and 37 old-cut diamonds. Additional diamond bezels decorate front and back – a marvelous piece of jewellery from the property of a wealthy family in pre-revolutionary Paris.
