Lang & Heyne, Dresden, "Friedrich August I., No. 14", Movement No. FA I.-14, Cal. 01, 43 mm, circa 2005
An elegant wristwatch in near mint condition with original box, certificate / rating certificate and operating instructions
Case: 18k gold, sapphire glass screwed on back, original caramel brown alligator leather strap with 18k gold Lang & Heyne buckle. Dial: enamel.
The model "Friedrich August I" is a classic and elegant piece and pays homage to the passionate love Augustus II the Strong (also known in Saxony as Frederick Augustus I) had for the fine arts.
The design of the dial and the movement is inspired by the pocket watches made in Glashütte around 1900. The threepart enamel dial features Arabic numerals, a red minute ring and exquisitely worked, gold Louis XV hands. The ¾ plate gilt movement has screwed gold chatons, a diamond endstone on the hand-engraved balance cock and an index spring fine adjustment system. The movement is capable of 18,000 beats per hour (2.5 MHz) and has a power reserve of 46 hours.
The watch manufactory Lang & Heyne in Dresden was established in 2001 by master watchmaker Marco Lang and his apprentice Mirko Heyne. The company develops their own movements and uses them to create fine timepieces that take their inspiration from the watches produced in Saxony in the 18th and 19th century.
