Case: 18k rose gold, glazed push back, hinged back, reeded case band, original 18k rose gold buckle. Dial: solid gold, subsidiary dials with mother-of-pearl inlays.
The "Julius Assmann 1" model is regarded as the first masterpiece of modern times created by Glashütte Original. The watch was designed in 1995 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the company. Featuring a flying tourbillon and a perpetual calendar, it was the most complicated watch produced in Glashütte since 1990. Gold-framed, inserted mother-of-pearl subsidiary dials display the day of the week, the month (in English) and the date and present a gentle contrast to the silvery shimmer of the "Julius Assmann 1" dial. The leap year is indicated by a different colour shade in the subsidiary "month" dial, which shows a period of four years by using one quadrant per year. The moon phase appears as a golden, slightly curved plate on a dark blue disc decorated with stars that is displayed in a semicircular opening. The case back sapphire crystal under the spring lid reveals the movement with the flying tourbillon. Like all Julius Assmann models, the "Julius Assmann 1" lets the wearer chose whether the watch is to be worn on the wrist or used as a pocket watch – it is a sophisticated, contemporary interpretation of the Assmann horological treasures of yesteryear.
