This so-called house clock has an upright oblong form; the red front panel is framed with decorative, gold strips and has an aperture for the moon phase above the openworked dial with separate hour wheel and Roman hours. Below the hours, the words "So oft es schlacht, Dein End betracht" serve as a reminder of the transience of life: "whenever the clock strikes, remember your end". The open movement has an iron frame with angled brackets and pinnacles. Scrollwork and braces with finials ornament the open bell cage, with a finial at the very top. The large pinnacled balance wheel swings inside the bell cage.
