Benedikt Liebherr, his brother joseph and his father Franz Xaver are among the most important makers of their time in the Allgäu region. Benedikt Liebherr was a clock- and watchmaker who also founded a spinning company in Landshut. He trained in mechanical engineering at the institute of mathematical-mechanical engineering of Utzschneider, Reichenbach and his famous brother Joseph Liebherr in Munich. He also attended lectures in Physics and Maths at the University of Landshut. In 1818 Benedikt established his spinning mill with 60 employees.
In 2006 an exhibition in Immenstadt was held in honour of the clockmaking families Liebherr and Mahler’s work.
