The white enamel dial with Arabic numerals features three subsidiary dials for date, day of the week and month. An aperture at 12 o’clock reveals the moon phase with the moon and gold stars exquisitely painted on a blue enamel disc; the moon age is displayed along the upper edge of the opening. The dial is signed by the maker oft he watch F. L. Godon, Ro. de Camara de S.M.C..
In his Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français (1971, vol.1, p. 263) Tardy notes that François-Louis Godon became a master in 1787 and worked at Rue de Valois-St-Honoré from 1789 to 1790.
Godon was maker to the King of Spain. He signed his watches "F. L. Godon, Ro. de Camara de S.M.C." ("Watchmaker to His Catholic Majesty the King of Spain").
