A remarkable porcelain ornamental mantel clock "The Four Seasons" with matching base and a pair of girandoles

The clock was designed by Ernst August Leuteritz (Meissen 1818-1893) and imitates the magnificent clock cases created in the rococo period. A curved base on three volute feet, which is 125 mm high and decorated with three-dimensional, multi-coloured flower garlands supports the bright, playful mantel clock (470 mm high), representing an allegorical composition of the four seasons depicted by different putti. The putto symbolising Winter wears a cape and sits next to a brazier, while Summer sits in the bright sunlight and holds a bundle of corn. To the right, Spring is identified by a flower garland, while Autumn, a small bacchante, sits on the very top of the case. The clock itself is framed by an abundance of applied, three-dimensional flower garlands.
The mantel clock is accompanied by a pair of five-light girandoles, each 450 mm high and decorated with lavish flower ornamentation and depiction of the seasons that match the clock.
