For the 40th anniversary of the successful NAUTILUS in 2016, Patek Philippe launched the "Nautilus Chronograph 40th Anniversary" reference 5976/1G-001 in an unnumbered new edition in white gold limited to 1,300 examples.
The design of the anniversary model reference 5976/1G-001 is similar to that of its steel predecessor reference 5980 dating from 2006, which was also a chronograph with date and fitted with the identical calibre CH 28-520 C. The biggest differences between the two were the size of the case and the layout of the dial.
Reference 5976 has a width of 47 mm; the distance from lug to lug is 49 mm, making this the largest case of the Nautilus range. Reference 5980 is smaller by far with a size of 43 x 46 mm. The dial is embellished with nine baguette diamonds, which lend a touch of glamour to this otherwise very masculine chronograph. The anniversary inscription "1976-40-2016" has been embossed below the Patek Philippe logo and blends in perfectly with the classic horizontal bar pattern. The totalizer extends from the central arbor to the bottom edge of the dial. Two concentric circles defined by delicate white gold rings show the timed hours and minutes in the outer and the inner circle respectively, in iridescent blue.
This white gold "Nautilus Chronograph 40th Anniversary" has obviously hardly ever been worn by its original owner and is in almost new condition; it comes with its original accessories and a reissued version of the legendary cork box. The timepiece is a unique opportunity for any collector to own an important piece of horological history that also promises a potential high increase in value.
