The layout of this Overseas model was inspired by Vacheron & Constantin‘s legendary "222", a timepiece-turned-cult-icon designed by Jörg Hysek in 1977 to commemorate the 222nd anniversary of the brand - and a fierce competitor to Nautilus, Royal Oak and Ingenieur SL. The watch featured the technical functionality of a sports watch and was waterproof to a depth of 120 m. Since then the "222" has been updated several times and was eventually integrated in the Overseas range launched in 1996.
