In 2006 Patek Philippe replaced the famous World Time reference 5110 with the new, larger reference 5130, which differs from its predecessor mainly in the more modern 39.5 mm size.
The unique design of the World Time was inspired by the world time watches Patek Philippe created in the 1930s. Readability has been optimized with a day/night indication, i.e., a light and a dark zone on the 24-hour ring. In the platinum models, this ring frames the blued central area and its exquisite guilloche pattern. A light-coloured area around the outer rim of the dial displays local time and all 24 time zones worldwide by listing the names of 24 cities from Cairo to Sydney and Paris in capital letters. The square pusher at 10 o’clock allows a comfortable adjustment of the time zones – thanks to the magnificent automatic calibre 240 HU with micro-rotor.
