Thomas Ollive, Cranbrook, Kent, Movement No. 1045, 54 mm, 117 g, circa 1800
An English pair-cased verge pocket watch with date indicator
Case: outer case - copper, firegilt, tiered, polished, à goutte, case maker's punch mark "WR", large lateral hinge. Inner case - copper, firegilt, polished, case maker's punch mark "WR" (possibly William Rowlands of London). Dial: enamel, regulator dial, eccentric hour dial with Roman numerals, date ring with Arabic numerals, arrow shaped hands. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, applied florally engraved ornaments, signed, chain/fusee, solid circular movement pillars, cylinder escapement, three-arm steel balance, very finely florally engraved pierced balance cock.
Thomas Ollive was born in 1753. He worked as a watchmaker in Cranbrook, Kent around 1780. Thomas Ollive died in 1829.
