The Omega coaxial calibre 2500 was first introduced in 1999 in limited watch editions. The models in red, yellow and white gold were limited to 999 copies, another 99 were produced in platinum. The novelty movement with George Daniels' coaxial escapement was launched as one of the most important inventions of the century for mechanical watches - inspired by the tourbillon, the design of the coaxial escapement greatly enhances the performance of a high-precision timepiece’s fine adjustment system.
Unique features of this watch are the dodecagonal dial with its raised centre and the bevelled luminous hour markers, the screw back with engraved De Ville medallion and edition, and the inscription "Co-Axial Escapement".
