An extremely rare and very fine Art Deco gold enamel cigarette case
Case: 18K gold, case maker's punch mark "GS", English post 1904 import mark for 18k gold.
Rectangular, opaque black and red Champlevé enamel, lid and base decorated with geometrical pattern, front and back as well as parts of lid and base with foliate ornaments.
This delicate cigarette case is a marvellous example of art deco style design and combines its sensual theme with an elegant form, precious materials and strong colours. The stylized floral and organic motifs impart a striking and sohpisticated statement.
