A rare, small, one-handed Silesian wall clock with hour self strike
Case: bronze, gilt, partly painted. Dial: silvered, velvet. Movm.: circular brass full plate movement, verge escapement, 2 barrels, chain/fusee, count wheel, 1 finely engraved hammer / 1 bell.
The centre of the silver hour ring is lined with blue velvet that serves as a contrasting background for the bronze hour hand. On top of the dial sits a bronze grille decorated with volute and scroll decor with fine engraving against a black velvet background; the central motif is a Habsburg double eagle with crown, sword and sceptre. The back has been painted red and is decorated with white scrollwork.
The town of Jawor (Jauer) is situated in Lower Silesia near the river Raging Neisse (Nysa Szalona), approximately 70 kilometres south of Wroclaw.
