Franz Xaver Zoller came from Baden-Baden to Ödenburg and opened a watchmaking shop; he received the freedom of the city in 1771. In 1790 he was elected tribune of the people. However, since he sympathised openly with the French Revolution, Zoller came into conflict with the city council and most likely left Ödenburg.
