Gustav Gerstenberger (1886-1983) was born in Breslau in 1886 and also completed his apprenticeship as a watchmaker there. From 1905 he attended the German Watchmaking School in Glashuette and worked for several years with J. Assmann, which gave him the opportunity to refine his skills. He changed to the upcoming Glashuette precision watch company in 1909. Being highly interested in all technical matters, he attended evening lectures by Prof. Strasser. He was with IWC Schaffhausen from 1912 to 1914; after his return to Glashuette he worked for A. Lange & Sons as a freelancer and devoted himself completely to chronometry. Gustav Gerstenberger died in 1983 near Dresden.
Lit.: "Glashütte und seine Uhren" by Kurt Herkner, Dormagen 1978.
Richard Miklosch (1939-2014) (from Herzogenrath near Aachen) worked with tourbillons. Even though he was only born in 1939 he knew Alfred Helwig and Gustav Gerstenberger well, and was thus easily able to take over Helwig's design ideas and even his quality standards. His watches proved that Helwig's fundamental ideas were still working as a basis for new creative design developments.
