A high quality Swedish verge pocket watch
Case: 18k gold, case maker's punch mark "A.W. Aberg". Dial: enamel. Movm.: full plate movement, chain/fusee, large three-arm brass balance.
Jacob Kock was born in 1737 and worked as a clockmaker in Stockholm. His father Johan Koch was a mechanical engineer and a native of Cölln on the river Spree (now Neukölln, Berlin); he came to Sweden in 1664 and became clockmaker to the court of King Gustav III. Jacob was his father’s successor at court. He died in 1805; many of his clocks are in museums today.
