A heavy English deck watch of the British Royal Navy with 52,5 min. carousel and original mahogany box
Case: silver, case maker's punch mark "JW" (Joseph Walton). Dial: enamel. Movm.: 2/3 plate movement, gold screw compensation balance.
During the 1910 Greenwich Chronometer Watch Trials for the British Admiralty that took place between 30th July and 19th November (29 weeks long trial) this watch was placed 19th out of 74 in the order of merit.
The watches were tested in five different positions to confirm their accuracy. They were also kept in gas fired low temperature ovens for weeks during these tests to eliminate temperature as a cause of errors during the five positions test.
