Hans Remmert, Chemnitz, Case No. 3821, 53 mm, 108 g, circa 1933
A gold graduate's piece of the Glashütte Uhrmacherschule in the typical design of the era of Alfred Helwig - with Lange extract from the archives
Case: 14k gold. Dial: silvered, inlaid gold wedges. Movm.: 3/4 plate movement, Guillaume gold screw compensation balance.
A top quality graduation piece featuring a minute wheel with screwed gold chatons and a mirror-polished pallet cock. Due to the high cost of the material, school watches in gold cases are very rare.
The beautiful Saxon city of Chemnitz had a watch and jewellery shop owned by Karl Remmert at Königstrasse 25 as well as the watch and clock shop Remmert near the market square. It is very likely that a connection existed to Hans Remmert.
Hans Remmert was born on April 9, 1909 in Chemnitz and trained at the German watch- and clockmaking school in 1932 and 1933. We know of two other pieces he created while attending the school, a pocket watch and a lever escapement demonstration model.
