A rare quarter repeating pocket watch with independant jumping, stoppable centre seconds "Seconde Morte" - sold to Monsier Giraud on July 25, 1855 for 1400 Francs - with original box no. 2644 and certificate no. 4561
Case: 18k gold, engine-turned, monogrammed, à goutte, numbered and signed gold dome, slide for repeating mechanism, slide to stop the centre seconds at "8". Dial: enamel, radial Roman numerals, jumping centre seconds, blued Breguet hands. Movm.: bridge movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, two barrels, gold screw compensation balance, counterpoised lever.
The Breguet records show that Louis Audemars à Brassus sold this watch movement to Breguet à Paris on May 12, 1855 for a price of 930 francs.
