Rolex Gèneve "Cellini", Case No. A842878, Ref. 3612, Cal. 651, 39 mm, circa 1971
An important coin wristwatch "50 Pesos - 37.5 Gr Oro Puro" in near mint condition, so called "Rolex Cellini Libertad Independencia", made in a small limited edition of 10 pieces to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of Córdoba - the treaty that established Mexican independence from Spain
Case: 18k rose gold, case band with engraving "Independencia y Libertad", chased front, back side with chased Mexican coat-of-arms, secret locking device for the spring lid at 3 o’clock, original crocodile bracelet with Rolex buckle. Dial: gilt.
The case of the watch is in the shape of a 50 peso gold coin dating from 1821-1947. The case band is engraved with "Libertad y Independencia". The hinged watch is inside the coin, which opens when a button in the band is pressed.
