A fine, rare silver enamel singing bird box
Case: silver, engraved, rectangular with engraved rounded corners. Partly engine-turned, entirely polychrome enamelled top with a rustic country scene of a mother and two children with their dog, in the background cows, a lake and mountains; oval enamel plaque to cover the revolving bird with moving wings, head, beak and tail in front of a silver grill pierced and engraved with foliage. The sides with round panels, polychrome painted with rural alpine lakeside scenes set within white and translucent green champlevé enamel borders. Slide on the front to activate the automaton. The base with winding aperture. Automaton mechanism: rectangular full-plate movement, bellows, going barrel, the revolving bird controlled by two cams mounted beneath the barrel wheel.
