Fatio-Junod à Genève, 96 x 26 mm

, circa 1850

A very fine, elegant, diamond-set gold enamel lorgnette with concealed watch

Case: gold and enamel, folded lorgnette released by a pusher in the band; finely engraved on both sides with scrolled foliage, decorated with and white and blue champlevé enamel details, the front with hinged watch cover overlaid with translucent cobalt blue enamel over engine-turned ground, centered with a diamond-set spray of grain spikes. Dial: enamel, radial Roman numerals, blued spade hands, very finely engraved gold mask with signature. Movm.: bridge movement, gilt, 6 jewels, cylinder escapement.

Jacques-Alphonse Fatio-Junod
A maker of repute, he is best known for his Bagnolet watches. Fatio-Junod is recorded from 1844 to 1861, in Geneva's Plainpalais quarter, Chemin Gourgas.
