A rare and French Revolution verge pocket watch indicating revolution time and normal time Case: 18k rose gold, polished. Dial: enamel, revolution chapter ring with Arabic hours "1-10", normal time chapter ring with Arabic hours "1-12", polychrome enamel painting, depicting a female figure holding a stick with a Phrygian Cap, blued Breguet hands. Movm.: full plate movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, chain/fusee, solid pillars, three-arm brass balance, pierced and engraved balance bridge decorated with a Phrygian Cap and a cock.
Revolution time: During the French Revolution it was decreed that a day should have 10 hours. The system was abolished again by Napoleon Bonaparte on January 1st, 1806.
