A rare tortoise shell chocolate box with cameo portrait
Case: round, tortoise shell and gold, removable lid with central octagonal medallion: applied agate balls set in gold, signed oval cameo profile portrait of a lady in period costume, on sablé ground. Gold frame with narrow blue enamel decorative strip; gold-lined inside.

Teresa Talani
Talani was a Roman gem carver based in Naples around 1800. Many of her works are now kept in museums such as the British Museum.
